Group Head of Sales – Johannesburg Area
Position: Group Head of Sales
Reports to: Managing Director and Executive Director
Job Purpose:
The Head of Sales is a leading strategic role in the Sales Departments across the Financial Services Group. The incumbent will be responsible for the effective functioning of all distribution channels (Field Sales Agents and Outbound Call Centre), and must develop, implement and monitor sales strategies with the intention to grow their client base, whilst ensuring that the cost per sale remain within budget. The Group Head of Sales must further create optimization plans, sales reports, and develop incentive structures which will motivate sales staff to perform optimally. You will be responsible for developing sales information platforms, drive the achievement of production targets, and ensure sales training and mentorship takes place. Effective relationship management both with corporate clients as well as union and organizational clients is of critical importance.
Job Responsibilities, Duties and Tasks:
- Develop, implement, and monitor sales strategies to increase the size of our book.
- Ensure that the number of sales made, and the cost of acquisition remain in budget.
- Ensure that the cost of acquisition to policy lifetime value ratios are maintained.
- Establish and grow new distribution strategies whilst optimising current distribution strategies.
- Manage the operational requirements of all distribution channels to ensure their optimal functioning. This includes the identification of solutions, new processes and technology that can assist sales efficiency and profitability.
- Actively develop, manage, monitor, and optimise sales campaigns.
- Develop, manage, and optimise sales incentives / structures that support business initiatives.
- Provide leadership and direction to Sales Managers and ensure all direct reports meet their minimum KPI’s and initiate performance management where necessary.
- Monitor Sales Representatives performance both Quality and Production. Ensure training and counselling is provided to Sales Representatives who are not meeting minimum requirements and that the Company’s performance management policy is implemented where required.
- Work together with the marketing department to ensure marketing is on point and effective.
- Propose changes to existing products and benefits based on consumer research and industry specific trends.
- Establish and develop strong relationships with all stakeholders including corporate client’s and union representatives.
Skills and Requirements:
- Tertiary Education in Sales, Marketing, Finance, or any other business-related field.
- More than 7 years’ experience in a senior sale’s managerial role. Advantageous if experience is industry related (Insurance, Financial Services or Banking).
- Demonstrate strong business acumen and have proven planning and executive presence.
- Excellent communication and sales skills.
- Analytical skills to interpret information and date into actionable deliverables, strategies, and targets.
- People skills accompanied with the ability to build and maintain strong and lasting internal and external relationships.
- Experience in dealing with various distribution channels including Outbound Sales and Field Sales.
- RE5 or RE1.
- Experience in dealing with Unions and a strong understanding of Union structures will be advantageous.
Salary: R 1 – 1.5m per annum.
