Operations Supervisor

Job Summary
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all aspects of site operations, including daily market activities, compliance with health and food safety standards, staff management, facility maintenance, and stakeholder engagement. This role serves as the primary point of contact for site operations and requires strong leadership, accountability, and a hands-on approach.
Minimum Requirements
- Matric (Grade 12)
- Diploma or degree in Operations Management, Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (advantageous)
- 2–5 years’ experience in operations or facility management (fresh produce or agricultural industry preferred)
- Valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport
- Experience with Point-of-Sale systems, ERP systems, or trading software
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

Key Responsibilities
Cashier Management & Banking
- Oversee cashier operations, including scheduling, security, reconciliations, and reporting
- Manage daily and monthly banking processes
Safety, Health & Environment (SHE)
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations
- Maintain and manage site safety systems and standards
Market Trading Software Support
- Provide first-line support for on-site trading software users
Facility Maintenance
- Oversee maintenance of facilities, including cold storage and ripening rooms
- Manage contractors and service providers
Cold Storage Management
- Ensure correct billing and usage of cold storage facilities
Public Relations & Marketing
- Coordinate site-level marketing activities and events
Human Resource Management
- Manage staff, including scheduling, leave, training, and employee relations
Porter Management
- Oversee porter operations, including attendance, equipment, and uniforms
Master Data Maintenance
- Ensure accurate and timely data capture on operational systems
Budget Management
- Manage and monitor site-specific budgets

Additional Information
- This role may require additional duties as needed
- Working hours align with market operations:
- Weekdays: 05:00 – 13:00
- Saturdays & Public Holidays: 05:00 – 11:00
