We are looking for a software tester to be part of the team developing a trading platform. This person will be based in Pretoria East. The position is immediately available with a budget up to R 35 000 depending on seniority of the candidate.

We are looking for a person to form part of the development team responsible for the day-to-day development activities. This role will be responsible to ensure the quality, compliance, and delivery of the trading platform.

This vacancy has no empowerment requirements. Strong preference will be given to industrial engineers with a love for technology.

This person will primarily perform the following functions:

• Be part of the team’s daily scrum meetings
• Build and commit to estimates per sprint based on user stories provided
• Interface with the team lead to compile acceptance criteria for user stories
• Review requirements, specification, and designs documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback
• Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases
• Estimate, prioritise, plan and execute testing activities
• Design, review and execute automation scripts
• Perform thorough regression testing
• Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products and features
• Liaise with internal teams (e.g., developers and product managers) to identify requirements
• Monitor debugging process results
• Investigate the cause of non-conforming software
• Track quality assurance metrics, like defect densities and open defect counts
• Stay up to date with new testing tools, methodologies, and strategies
• Ensure that the team delivers a quality product in line with the standards of the project
• Assist and mentor team members in the execution of their tasks

This person should have the following properties:

• Prior experience in manual software testing
• Good communication skills
• Experience with Microsoft Azure DevOps, JIRA or similar
• Detail oriented

It would be beneficial to a candidate to have the following:

• ISTQB or similar certification beneficial
• Tertiary qualification beneficial, especially Industrial Engineering, University of Pretoria and Stellenbosch preferred
• Firm understanding of the Agile & Scrum methodologies
• In-depth knowledge of Application Lifecycle Management with Azure DevOps
• Basic knowledge of accounting principals
• Understanding of web technologies
